Let’s get to know each other
THERE'S SOMETHING ZEN
ABOUT BEING WITH MY CAMERA.
My camera is an extension of my vision.
It brings me peace knowing I can capture and preserve a moment to keep and to share.
Form, Function and iconography
One of my RISD assignments (back in the film days) was to shoot 100 pictures in less than 5 minutes. Scary assignment as a young artist paying for film, chemicals and paper. As I pursued my Masters at RIT, the fear of technology was wiped away transitioning from full film cameras to the newly emerging digital backs.
Having a solid grasp of technology and art theory reminds me of Picasso, who also has a solid foundation in art theory. He knew perspective. He was brilliant with the color wheel. He chose to distort and abstract.
If Picasso were a photographer today, I wonder what he would do?
Perhaps he would combine his digital expertise with his passion for abstract storytelling.
I draw inspiration from everywhere.
The skill and vision to tell a story,
to capture one's essence,
and to create memories
is what makes me zen.
